Elisha Hezikiah Weathers1

M, ID# 3331, (c 1817 - )
Father:Elisha Weathers (c 1786 - )
Mother:Cassandra "Cassey" Gaither (a 1790 - )
Elisha Hezikiah Weathers was born c 1817. He was the son of Elisha Weathers and Cassandra "Cassey" Gaither. Elisha Hezikiah Weathers married Frances Gray on 23 Jan 1840 at Lincoln Co, Georgia.
Elisha H. Weathers, age 20 - 30, was on the 1840 Lincoln Co, GA census residing adjacent to his brother Vachel. Newly married in 1840, the woman age 15 - 20 was likely his wife and the woman age 40 to 50 could have been his mother or other relative. Elisha was residing adjacent to his brother Vachel who also had an older woman in the household.

Elisha, age 33, and his wife Frances, age 30, were on the 1850 Lincoln Co, GA census with their children Robert age 10, Mary E. 9, Rebecca 7, Cassander 5, Georgian C. 4, Josephine F. age 2. Elisha named his daughter Cassandra after his mother. Elisha lived in an area of large farms and was employed as an overseer. Also living in the household was a Syntha Matthews, age 40, whose relationship to the family is unknown. Syntha was the only adult unable to read and write, and Matthews familes often lived near Weathers families in the county.

Clearly because his wife Frances was alive in 1850, Elisha was not the unknown man of the same name who married City Parker in Lincoln Co, GA on 2 Nov 1846. The 1840 Lincoln Co, GA census showed an Elisha Weathers, age 40 - 50, living with a woman the same age, likely City Parker, and 2 males age 15 - 20, residing 2 doors from Lewis Parks with his family. It is known who this Elisha Weathers was but he was possibly another grandson of John Weathers born 1725.

Our Elisha was on the 1857 GA Property Digest listed near his brothers with one poll (man over 21) in the household, "by an agent" and no land. Elisha had 5 children between 8 and 16 years old and 6 slaves on that list.

By the time of the 1860 census Elisha, age 42, and Frances, age 37, had expanded their family to include Thomas age 7, Martha Ophelia 4 -- born 28 Aug 1854, and Charles 2. Elisha was still employed as an overseer and was the only one where he lived who did not own land. Later that year they had a daughter Delilah Weathers born 17 Nov 1860.

An Elisha H. Weathers who served in the Civil War in the infantry and received a pension 29 Jan 1921 is unlikely our ancestor because of our ancestor's age in 1921. An Elisha H. Weathers served in the military as a private in 1898 in the war with Spain, however our Elisha would have been 81, so this is also unlikely to be him.

Daniel S. Weathers1

M, ID# 3339, (23 Aug 1820 - 7 Jan 1903)
Father:Elisha Weathers (c 1786 - )
Mother:Cassandra "Cassey" Gaither (a 1790 - )
Daniel S. Weathers was born on 23 Aug 1820 at Georgia. He was the son of Elisha Weathers and Cassandra "Cassey" Gaither. Daniel S. Weathers married Mary Frances Jordan a 1855. Daniel S. Weathers died on 7 Jan 1903 at Columbia Co, Georgia, at age 82.
Daniel S. Weathers is presumed to be a son of Elisha Weathers because Elisha was known to have had four sons born between 1810 and 1820 and Daniel was the fourth man repeatedly noted in records with the other three men.

In 1850 Daniel Weathers, age 27, was the overseer for his brother Vachel's farm in Lincoln Co, GA and in 1860 Daniel was doing the same function for his brother Valentine's farm.

Daniel was found on the 1857 Lincoln Co, GA Property Tax List in Winn's District along with Valentine and Elisha Hezikiah, his brothers. Daniel was on the list again in Winn's District in 1869, adjacent to the land of his deceased brother Valentine, along with his brother Vachel.

In Jun 1860 Daniel, age 40, was residing with his brother Valentine where he was employed as the manager. Given that the oldest child in his home in 1870 was born in 1856, either this was a step-child or Daniel was maintaining two homes in 1860.

Daniel, age 48, was on the 15 Jun 1870 Winn's District, Lincoln Co, GA census with his wife Frances age 40. Residing with them were children all listed as Weathers: William 14, Thomas 12, Lucius 11, Robert 8 and Mary V. age 7.

Living two doors away from Daniel in 1870 was Thomas Weathers, age 37 and thus born 1833, with his wife Elmira age 29 (transcription says 25 but looks like 29) with no children. Next door to Thomas was James Conner, age 67, who was likely the father of both Elmira Conner and Nancy Conner, the wife of Daniel's brother Vachel.

By 1880 Daniel, age 60, was residing with his wife Frances, age 52 and children Mary V. age 16 and Julian V., age 9 in Lincoln Co, GA.

In 1900 Daniel, age 80, was residing in Dunn Chapel, Collumbia Co, GA with his wife Frances J., age 73, and their presumed son Julian, age 30. Frances stated she was born in Mar 1827 although her find a grave stated her birth was 22 Nov 1826.

Thomas F. Weathers1

M, ID# 3340, (c 1833 - )
Thomas F. Weathers was born c 1833 at Georgia. He married Elmira Conner on 25 Dec 1866 at Lincoln Co, Georgia.
Thomas Weathers has been theorized to possibly be the son of Valentine G. Weathers. Thomas, age 37, and his wife Elmira, age 29, with no children, were living near his presumed uncle Daniel Weathers and next door to her father James Conner, age 67, in Military District 183, Lincoln Co, GA in 1870. However, there were many Weathers living in Lincoln Co, so Thomas may belong in another family.

Rice age 3 and Budd Rice, a newborn, both born in Alabama. Family researcher Avery believes Alexander was killed in 1862 in the Civil War.
