Georg "George" Heinrich Muhlschlagel1

M, ID# 6916, (3 May 1753 - c 1815)
Father:Johann Andreas "Andrew" Muehlschlagel1 (15 Apr 1730 - c 1815)
Mother:Anna Maria Emmert1 (Jul 1734 - c 1818)
Georg "George" Heinrich Muhlschlagel was born on 3 May 1753 at Longswamp Township, Berks Co, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Johann Andreas "Andrew" Muehlschlagel and Anna Maria Emmert.1 Georg "George" Heinrich Muhlschlagel was christened in 1753 at Oley Hills Church, Oley Township, Berks Co, Pennsylvania. He married Maria Catherina Loy, daughter of Jurg "George" Loy and Rebecca Boserdin, a 1789.1 Georg "George" Heinrich Muhlschlagel died c 1815 at Hampshire Co, Virginia.
Georg "George" Henrich Mühlschlägel father's diary translated from German notes: "3 May 1753 my son Georg is born to the world. His godfather was George Emert and he was baptized by Jacob Hamm in the Ohley Mountains." Lucas Raus began a church register in 1754 for the "Evangelical Lutheran Church located in the Oley Hills, Colebrookdale," then located in Oley Township, Berks Co., PA. The congregation was organized before 1747, and the Reformed were allowed to use the church. Oley Hill Church is located near the boundaries of Oley, Earl and Rockland townships. Colebrookdale is now a separate township between Earl and Oley townships.

By 1774 George was living with his parents in Hampshire Co, VA, now located in West Virginia. One researcher asserted George served in the military during the Revolutionary War, but proof of service, unit or other information regarding military service for him in either PA or VA has not been found. After 1781 George reportedly married a Catherine Loy, who was purported to be the 14-year-old daughter of Jurg Loy and Rebecca Boserdin; more likely George married a woman by the same name from the New Goshenhoppen congregation of whom there is no further data. George was already living in Virginia at the time so apparently George went back to PA to marry.

George and Catharine sold land Feb 1802 to Thomas McBride. George was enumerated alone on the 1810 census for Hampshire Co, VA, northwest of Winchester, VA, as George Milslagle, a free white male aged 45 and over. Catharine Milslage, possibly George's wife, is enumerated in Jefferson Co, VA, northeast of Winchester, VA.
George and Catherine had at least four children; 3 sons and 1 daughter and maybe more. Only the names of the sons are known.

Maria Catharina "Catherine" Muhlschlagel was born on 13 Mar 1760 at Berks Co, Pennsylvania.1 She was the daughter of Johann Andreas "Andrew" Muehlschlagel and Anna Maria Emmert.1 Maria Catharina "Catherine" Muhlschlagel was christened at Peter's Church, Richmond Township, Berks Co, Pennsylvania. She married Phillip Horn on 28 Mar 1786.1
Maria Catharina Mühlschlägel's father Andreas wrote in his diary, as translated from German, "13 March 1760 my daughter is born to the world, the sponsor was Maria Catharina Brannerin, she gave the child the name Maria Catharina, baptized by Georg Preacher Michael in the Peters Church." The Reformed register begins in 1764 referring to the congregation as "Peter's Church in Richmond Township," Berks Co., PA.

Maria Catharina followed German naming customs and went by the name of Catherine. According to Grace Kelso Garner in Earliest Settlers of Western Frederick-Eastern Hampshire Counties, Catharine and her sister Hanna were twins, however, their father gives different birth dates for the two.

Catharine and Phillip had 5 children but only the names of four are known:
John Horn+ b. 1 Aug 1792, d. 3 Feb 1873

Hannah Muhlschlagel1,2

F, ID# 6926, (11 Nov 1771 - 19 Dec 1858)
Father:Johann Andreas "Andrew" Muehlschlagel1 (15 Apr 1730 - c 1815)
Mother:Anna Maria Emmert1 (Jul 1734 - c 1818)
Hannah Muhlschlagel was born on 11 Nov 1771 at Berks Co, Pennsylvania.1 She was the daughter of Johann Andreas "Andrew" Muehlschlagel and Anna Maria Emmert.1 Hannah Muhlschlagel was christened at Peter's Church, Berks Co, Pennsylvania.1 She married COL George Park, son of John Parkes II, a 1791 at Hampshire Co, Virginia.1 Hannah Muhlschlagel died on 19 Dec 1858 at Hampshire Co, Virginia, at age 87. She was buried at Parks Quaker Burial Ground, Hampshire Co, Virginia.
Hanna Mühlschläge's birth was noted in her father's diary, translated from German: "11 November 1771 is my daughter born to the world and then prepared for holy baptism, the witness was Catharina Braunerin, widow, she gave the child the name Hanna, baptized by Preacher Michael."

Hannah is buried with her husband and many descendants in the Parks Cemetery on the lands surveyed to the original Parks settlers. The Old Parks Burial Ground is often referred to as the Quaker Cemetery or Quaker Burying Ground at Parks Valley.

Hanna and George had five daughters and three sons. Only the names of sixchildren are known. Note that Park and Parks are both used in this generation:

Father:John Parkes II1 (a 1685 - )
COL George Park was born c 1760.1 He was the son of John Parkes II.1 COL George Park married Hannah Muhlschlagel, daughter of Johann Andreas "Andrew" Muehlschlagel and Anna Maria Emmert, a 1791 at Hampshire Co, Virginia.1 COL George Park died on 23 Jul 1842 at Hampshire Co, Virginia.1 He was buried at Parks Quaker Burial Ground, Hampshire Co, Virginia.1
Prior to his death, Andreas Muhlschlagel deeded land to George Park and his brother John Park who had married Andreas' daughter Anna Maria.

Collected data concerning George Park(s) is confusing and may indicate there were two different George Parks living in the area. George was a well-educated, public spirited man who served as a jurist in Romney and served several terms in the VA General Assembly. He served as a colonel in the Militia and was often with his men to pursue hostile Indians who were in the area during 1755-1780; these dates are way too early for this George to have been a Colonel if he were born in 1762, unless 1748 is his correct birth date. The headstone of Col George Parke, a large one with eight names on it, shows his age, indicating he would have been born in 1758, but the 1810, 1820, 1830 and 1840 censuses show him to be about 10 years younger than this.
