     John Hunt was born c 1683. He was the son of MAJ William Hunt II and Tabitha (Unknown). John Hunt married Susanna "Susan" (Unknown) a 1708. John Hunt died in 1716.

     John Gregory was born a 1705. He married Elizabeth Hunt, daughter of Turner Hunt, b Oct 1738.

     Richard Crump was born a 1703. He married Lucy Hunt, daughter of Turner Hunt, b Oct 1738.

     Charley Allen Borton was born in 1889. He married Amalie 'Mollie' Schmidt, daughter of Heinrich "Henry" Schmidt II and Anna Maria Haag, a 1914. Charley Allen Borton died in 1971.

     Joel Geis was born on 7 Dec 1884 at Marion Co, Kansas. He was the son of Jacob Peter "J.J." Geis and Anna Elizabeth Wagner. Joel Geis married Marcia 'Marsha' Schmidt, daughter of Heinrich "Henry" Schmidt II and Anna Maria Haag, on 8 May 1903 at Durham, Marion Co, Kansas. Joel Geis died on 30 Mar 1965 at Newton, Harvey Co, Kansas, at age 80.

     Jacob Peter "J.J." Geis was born on 12 Sep 1859 at Alt-Messer, Saratov, Russia. He was the son of Henry Peter Geis and Katharina Elizabeth Laubach. Jacob Peter "J.J." Geis immigrated on 26 Jun 1876. He married Anna Elizabeth Wagner on 16 May 1880 at Beaver Co, Kansas. Jacob Peter "J.J." Geis married Anna Maria Haag, daughter of Unknown Haag, in 1899 at Hillsboro, Marion Co, Kansas. Jacob Peter "J.J." Geis died on 29 Jul 1936 at Marion Co, Kansas, at age 76.

      When Jacob Peter "J.J." Geis immigrated at age 18, like many Mennonites in the 1870s, he was likely lured to Kansas by railroad advertising campaigns promoting sale of productive farmland and exemption from military service on religious grounds. With these incentives Mennonites primarily immigrated to Marion, Harvey and McPherson counties to buy lands owned by the railroad companies. In those close knit and sometimes isolated communities, German Russian customs and strong religious beliefs were maintained for several decades.

Jacob at age 22 was living in Liberty, Marion Co, KS in 1880, and there was another Jacob Geis age 29 married to an Anna M. age 25 living close by; this is important because our Jacob Geis also married an Anna M. later so close attention has to be paid to the men's ages when differentiating between the two Geis families.

Jacob married his first wife Anna Elizabeth Wagner about 1880 because they were living together by the time of the 1880 census near a Wagner family and their first known child was born circa 1882; they were not married, as reported in 1875 by a poor census input of twenty years after her death, because no known children were born until after 1880 and they would have been underage to marry in 1875. Jacob appeared on the 1895 Kansas State census age age 36 in Moore township in Marion, Co. Jacob and his wife Anna Elizabeth had nine children before his wife and the last baby died with childbirth.

With eight children left at home, Jacob paid passage for widow Anna Maria Schmidt to bring her five children to Hillsboro, KS from Russia in 1899; after marriage Jacob and Anna added a fourteenth child to the family. By 1905, the older Geis and Schmidt children had gone to live in the household of Jacob's oldest son Joel Geis; Joel had married his step-sister, one of the Schmidt daughters.

     Lulu G. (Unknown) was born c 1900. She married PVT Jacob Robert "JR" Schmidt, son of Heinrich "Henry" Schmidt II and Anna Maria Haag, c 1922.

     Majorie N. Schmidt was born c 1923. She was the daughter of PVT Jacob Robert "JR" Schmidt and Lulu G. (Unknown).

     John J. Schmidt was born on 24 Nov 1924 at Salina, Saline Co, Kansas. He was the son of PVT Jacob Robert "JR" Schmidt and Lulu G. (Unknown). John J. Schmidt died on 24 Jul 2000 at Deer Trail, Arapahoe Co, Colorado, at age 75.

     Freddie L. Schmidt is the son of PVT Jacob Robert "JR" Schmidt and Lulu G. (Unknown).

     Henry Peter Geis was born on 15 Oct 1830 at Alt-Messer, Saratov, Russia. He married Katharina Elizabeth Laubach in 1848. Henry Peter Geis immigrated in Jun 1876 to New York, New York. He died on 25 Oct 1906 at Marion Co, Kansas, at age 76.

      Heinrich "Henry" Peter Geis and his wife had twelve children. He was a farmer and a Mennionite, came to New York via Hamburg, Germany; Liverpool, England; and Queenstown, Ireland with 11 various Geis family members including two Jacobs who were age 12 and 18; the 18-year-old Jacob was our direct line ancestor. Four years later Henry was on the Liberty, Marion, Co, KS census with four family members left at home.

     Katharina Elizabeth Laubach was born on 15 Sep 1828 at Saratov, Russia. She married Henry Peter Geis in 1848. Katharina Elizabeth Laubach immigrated in Jun 1876 to New York, New York. She died on 15 Nov 1909 at Oklahoma at age 81.

     Anna Elizabeth Wagner was born on 25 Jul 1857 at Russin Empire. She married Jacob Peter "J.J." Geis, son of Henry Peter Geis and Katharina Elizabeth Laubach, on 16 May 1880 at Beaver Co, Kansas. Anna Elizabeth Wagner died on 5 Jan 1899 at Marion Co, Kansas, at age 41.

     Emma Geis was born on 15 Apr 1886 at Marion Co, Kansas. She was the daughter of Henry Geis and Philipine Geis. Emma Geis married Henrich "Henry" L. Schmidt, son of Heinrich "Henry" Schmidt II and Anna Maria Haag, on 12 Jun 1904. Emma Geis died on 17 Dec 1918 at Marion Co, Kansas, at age 32.

     Henry Geis was born on 28 Sep 1849 at Russia. He was the son of Henry Peter Geis and Katharina Elizabeth Laubach. Henry Geis married Philipine Geis in 1869 at Russia. Henry Geis died on 2 May 1935 at Blackwell, Oklahoma, at age 85.

     Philipine Geis was born on 1 Aug 1850 at Russia. She married Henry Geis, son of Henry Peter Geis and Katharina Elizabeth Laubach, in 1869 at Russia. Philipine Geis died on 19 Jun 1917 at Marion Co, Kansas, at age 66.

     Katie Marie Schwindt was born a 1899. She married Henrich "Henry" L. Schmidt, son of Heinrich "Henry" Schmidt II and Anna Maria Haag, in 1919 at Marion Co, Kansas.

     Mary Buller was born a 1885. She married Henrich "Henry" L. Schmidt, son of Heinrich "Henry" Schmidt II and Anna Maria Haag, a 1925.

     Jakob Friedrich Hilsenbeck I was born on 17 Apr 1827 at Gruibingen, Goppingen, Wuerttemberg, Germany. He was the son of Johannes Hilsenbeck I and Anna Maria Weiss. Jakob Friedrich Hilsenbeck I married Anna Maria Straub, daughter of Johann Jakob Straub I and Angelika Schopp, on 28 Apr 1857 at Evangelisch, Gruibingen, Goppingen, Wuerttemberg, Germany. Jakob Friedrich Hilsenbeck I immigrated on 29 Jun 1881 to New York, New York. He died on 5 May 1892 at Oregon, Holt Co, Missouri, at age 65. He was buried at Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon, Holt Co, Missouri.

      Jakob Friedrich Hilsenbeck traveled from Germany via Rotterdam, Netherlands on 23 Jun 1881 to New York, arriving on the "Schiedam." Passenger list of the ship shows: Jacob, age 54, occupation mason, origin German; Marie age 24; Catarin age 19; Christine age 17; Johannes, age 16; Carl age 12; and Jacob age 10. In 1892 he died at the home of his daughter Mrs Fritz Warrenberger in Oregon, MO. The family is discussed on page 180B in the source Gruibingen Kirchenbuch.

     Anna Maria Straub was born on 24 Jan 1836 at Gruibingen, Goppingen, Wuerttemberg, Germany. She was the daughter of Johann Jakob Straub I and Angelika Schopp.³ Anna Maria Straub married Jakob Friedrich Hilsenbeck I, son of Johannes Hilsenbeck I and Anna Maria Weiss, on 28 Apr 1857 at Evangelisch, Gruibingen, Goppingen, Wuerttemberg, Germany. Anna Maria Straub died on 27 Jun 1872 at Auendorf, Alb-Donau-Kreis, Wuerttemberg, Germany, at age 36.

     Anna Maria Hilsenbeck was born on 15 Aug 1857 at Gruibingen, Goppingen, Wuerttemberg, Germany. She was the daughter of Jakob Friedrich Hilsenbeck I and Anna Maria Straub. Anna Maria Hilsenbeck married Joseph Friedrich Weisenberger on 10 Mar 1883 at Maryville, Nodaway Co, Missouri. Anna Maria Hilsenbeck died in 1938 at Portland, Oregon. She was buried at Maryville, Nodaway Co, Missouri.

     Joseph Friedrich Weisenberger was born on 22 Dec 1856 at Weisweil, Waldshut, Baden, Germany. He married Anna Maria Hilsenbeck, daughter of Jakob Friedrich Hilsenbeck I and Anna Maria Straub, on 10 Mar 1883 at Maryville, Nodaway Co, Missouri. Joseph Friedrich Weisenberger died on 30 Nov 1928 at Maryville, Nodaway Co, Missouri, at age 71.

     Jakob Friedrich "Fritz" Hilsenbeck II was born on 8 Nov 1860 at Gruibingen, Goppingen, Wuerttemberg, Germany. He was the son of Jakob Friedrich Hilsenbeck I and Anna Maria Straub. Jakob Friedrich "Fritz" Hilsenbeck II married Waldburga M. Rapp in 1880 at Auendorf, Alb-Donau-Kreis, Wuerttemberg, Germany. Jakob Friedrich "Fritz" Hilsenbeck II died on 1 Oct 1939 at Independence, Jackson Co, Missouri, at age 78.

     Waldburga M. Rapp was born on 27 Jul 1854 at Auendorf, Alb-Donau-Kreis, Wuerttemberg, Germany. She married Jakob Friedrich "Fritz" Hilsenbeck II, son of Jakob Friedrich Hilsenbeck I and Anna Maria Straub, in 1880 at Auendorf, Alb-Donau-Kreis, Wuerttemberg. Waldburga M. Rapp died on 4 Apr 1947 at Independence, Jackson Co, Missouri, at age 92.

     Katharina Hilsenbeck was born on 4 Jan 1862 at Gruibingen, Goppingen, Wuerttemberg, Germany. She was the daughter of Jakob Friedrich Hilsenbeck I and Anna Maria Straub. Katharina Hilsenbeck married Ferdinand Goeppinger ? a 1882. Katharina Hilsenbeck died on 5 Feb 1920 at Cook Co, Illinois, at age 58.

     Christina Barbara Hilsenbeck was born on 18 Dec 1863 at Gruibingen, Goppingen, Wuerttemberg, Germany. She was the daughter of Jakob Friedrich Hilsenbeck I and Anna Maria Straub. Christina Barbara Hilsenbeck married John Thomas Simmons on 21 Sep 1885 at Holt Co, Missouri. Christina Barbara Hilsenbeck died on 9 Jan 1895 at Fillmore, Andrew Co, Missouri, at age 31.

     Johannes Christoph Hilsenbeck was born on 2 Mar 1865 at Gruibingen, Goppingen, Wuerttemberg, Germany. He was the son of Jakob Friedrich Hilsenbeck I and Anna Maria Straub.

     Karl Wolfgang "Charles William" Hilsenbeck was born on 11 Nov 1866 at Gruibingen, Goppingen, Wuerttemberg, Germany. He was the son of Jakob Friedrich Hilsenbeck I and Anna Maria Straub. Karl Wolfgang "Charles William" Hilsenbeck married Melissa Jane Jackson on 7 Apr 1891 at Buchanan, Missouri. Karl Wolfgang "Charles William" Hilsenbeck married Mary "Mamie" Alice Mertz on 26 Sep 1898 at Maryville, Nodaway Co, Missouri. Karl Wolfgang "Charles William" Hilsenbeck died on 24 Dec 1938 at Maryville, Nodaway Co, Missouri, at age 72.

     Melissa Jane Jackson was born on 31 May 1873 at Cazenovia, Sauk Co, Wisconsin. She married Karl Wolfgang "Charles William" Hilsenbeck, son of Jakob Friedrich Hilsenbeck I and Anna Maria Straub, on 7 Apr 1891 at Buchanan, Missouri. Melissa Jane Jackson died on 10 Jan 1897 at Fillmore, Andrew Co, Missouri, at age 23.
