     Commodore Perry Miller was born in 1820 at Crocus, Adair Co, Kentucky. He married Emily Ashley, daughter of PVT John "Jack" Oliver Ashley II and Elizabeth Montgomery, on 18 Aug 1840 at Casey Co, Kentucky.

     Robert Smith Ashley was born on 26 Mar 1823 at Casey Co, Kentucky. He was the son of PVT John "Jack" Oliver Ashley II and Elizabeth Montgomery. Robert Smith Ashley married Deliah Jane Wesley on 19 Aug 1840 at Casey Co, Kentucky. Robert Smith Ashley died on 27 Jan 1896 at Bethelridge, Casey Co, Kentucky, at age 72.

     Deliah Jane Wesley was born in 1823. She married Robert Smith Ashley, son of PVT John "Jack" Oliver Ashley II and Elizabeth Montgomery, on 19 Aug 1840 at Casey Co, Kentucky. Deliah Jane Wesley died in 1908.

     Obediah Oliver Ashley was born in 1821 at Pulaski Co, Kentucky. He was the son of PVT John "Jack" Oliver Ashley II and Elizabeth Montgomery. Obediah Oliver Ashley married Elizabeth "Betsy" Wesley on 2 Sep 1839 at Casey Co, Kentucky. Obediah Oliver Ashley died in 1913.

      In 1840 Obediah Ashley, age up to 20, was living with three people in the household in Liberty, Casey Co, KY.

     Elizabeth "Betsy" Wesley was born in 1816. She married Obediah Oliver Ashley, son of PVT John "Jack" Oliver Ashley II and Elizabeth Montgomery, on 2 Sep 1839 at Casey Co, Kentucky. Elizabeth "Betsy" Wesley died in 1870.

     John Oliver Ashley III was born in 1821 at Somerset, Pulaski Co, Kentucky. He was the son of PVT John "Jack" Oliver Ashley II and Elizabeth Montgomery. John Oliver Ashley III married Sarah "Sallie" Mourning Dye on 3 Aug 1840 at Pulaski Co, Kentucky. John Oliver Ashley III died on 18 Feb 1890 at Rushville, Schuyler Co, Illinois.

     Sarah "Sallie" Mourning Dye was born in 1822. She married John Oliver Ashley III, son of PVT John "Jack" Oliver Ashley II and Elizabeth Montgomery, on 3 Aug 1840 at Pulaski Co, Kentucky. Sarah "Sallie" Mourning Dye died in 1871.

     Nancy Ashley was born in 1815 at Kentucky. She was the daughter of PVT John "Jack" Oliver Ashley II and Elizabeth Montgomery. Nancy Ashley died b 1831.

     Mary "Polly" Hardin ? was born a 1774. She married SGT John Oliver Ashley I, son of Francis A. Ashley and Rachel Touchstone, on 17 Apr 1797 at Mercer Co, Kentucky. Mary "Polly" Hardin ? died in 1828 at Warren Co, Tennessee.

     Benjamin Arnold was born c 1842. He married Sarah Ashley, daughter of PVT John "Jack" Oliver Ashley II and Elizabeth Montgomery, c 1863.

     Green B. Price was born c 1826. He married Mary E. Ashley, daughter of PVT John "Jack" Oliver Ashley II and Elizabeth Montgomery, a 1882.

     Francis A. Ashley was born a 1725 at North Carolina. He married Rachel Touchstone in 1745 at North Carolina. Francis A. Ashley died in 1790 at Warren Co, Tennessee.

      The Ashley lineage before John Ashley (~1755-1828) is too tenuous to add to the family history at this juncture and is captured here as notes, hopefully to be further validated or disproven in the future. Research with no definitive proof proposes the following line for John Ashley (~1755-1828): father Francis Ashley; grandfather John Plowman Ashley, great grandfather Thomas Ashley, great great grandfather John Ashley. Specific notes follow:

--Francis Ashley (died 1790) is thought by many researchers to be the father of John Ashley senior, but there is no proof. Another Frances Ashley and his wife (ages 26 to 44) were living in Salisbury, Mechlenburg, NC in 1800 with a male and two females under age 10, but this man was too young to be our ancestor.

--Father of Francis: John Plowman Ashley born in 1692 in Lancaster Co, VA was possibly the father of Francis. There is some relationship between Francis and John (either brothers, cousins, or father and son) because Francis and John have some of the same unusual names in both of their families. John Plowman Ashley was married to Mary Ann Hill and died in Anson Co, NC after 1765. In 1720 John was named in the Bertie Co, NC will of Thomas Plowman, possibly either his grandfather or uncle. John Plowman Ashley was appointed a Justice of Peace by the Governor's Council sitting in Edento in May 1731. He had married Mary Gordon, daughter of Col John Gordon of Chowan (Col. Records, Vol. 3, 1731, p. 234.) John Plowman Ashley deeded 50 acres to Patience Dempsey on Salmon Creek on 6 May 1742; one witness was Thomas Ashley (his father) signed JA (Bertie Co, NC Deed Book F, 1742, p. 237.) In 1759 when John Plowman Ashley deeded land located on the north side of the Great Pee Dee River to his son Francis, the land was described as going to the property line of Jordan Ashley. John Plowman Ashley was also granted (date unknown) 200 acres in Craven Co, SC; his son Jordan also received a grant there for 100 acres. In Anson Co, NC John [Plowman] Ashley made a will 1 Feb 1759 which was not probated; he noted sons John, Francis and William (land on Bare Creek), son Jurden and daughters Mary Ann Franks, Elinor Sutton, Rose Touchstone and Sarah Ashley. His wife Mary was executrix, and the witnesses were Richard Yarborough, Christopher Touchstone, Frederick ______. John Ashley, planter, deeded on 8 Feb 1765 to Thomas Webb 200 acres "on one side of Thomas Ashley on Salmon creek, part of a tract Granted to Lawrence Sarson by Patent bearing date 19 Oct 1716, mortgaged by Sarson and sold to Thomas Ashley, father of said John Ashley. Signed by "A." (Bertie Co, NC Land Book K, 1765, p. 433.)

--Father of John Plowman Ashley: Thomas Ashley born circa 1660 was the father of John Plowman Ashley born 1692. Thomas was born and died in Lancaster Co, VA and was married to Ann.

--Father of Thomas Ashley: John Ashley born 1625 in Lancaster, Gloucestershire, England and married to Lady Jane Cooper was the father of Thomas Ashley born circa 1660. John born 1625 was an immigrant and died in Lancaster Co, VA.

     Rachel Touchstone was born in 1724. She married Francis A. Ashley in 1745 at North Carolina.

     Mary Ann Ashley I was born in 1751. She was the daughter of Francis A. Ashley and Rachel Touchstone. Mary Ann Ashley I died on 11 Apr 1828 at McMinnville, Warren Co, Tennessee.

     Elinor Ashley I was born in 1752. She was the daughter of Francis A. Ashley and Rachel Touchstone.

     Jurden Ashley I was born in 1753. He was the son of Francis A. Ashley and Rachel Touchstone.

     Margeret "Peggy" Ashley was born in 1781 at Mecklenburg Co, North Carolina. She was the daughter of SGT John Oliver Ashley I and Mary "Polly" Calloway ? Margeret "Peggy" Ashley married Unknown Colville b 1828.

     Daniel Ashley was born in 1798 at North Carolina. She was the daughter of SGT John Oliver Ashley I and Mary "Polly" Hardin ? Daniel Ashley died b 1828.

     Uriah Ashley was born in Mar 1801 at Pulaski Co, Kentucky. He was the son of SGT John Oliver Ashley I and Mary "Polly" Hardin ? Uriah Ashley married Patsy Nevil on 22 Jan 1820 at Pulaski Co, Kentucky. Uriah Ashley died in 1847 at Pulaski Co, Kentucky.

     Andrew Ashley was born in 1802 at Pulaski Co, Kentucky. He was the son of SGT John Oliver Ashley I and Mary "Polly" Hardin ? Andrew Ashley died on 13 Jun 1882 at Derry, Westmoreland Co, Pennsylvania.

     Sarah "Sally" Ashley was born in 1804 at Kentucky. She was the daughter of SGT John Oliver Ashley I and Mary "Polly" Hardin ? Sarah "Sally" Ashley married Linsay Abrell on 2 Jul 1824 at Pulaski Co, Kentucky. Sarah "Sally" Ashley died on 30 Aug 1879.

     Linsay Abrell was born a 1799. He married Sarah "Sally" Ashley, daughter of SGT John Oliver Ashley I and Mary "Polly" Hardin ?, on 2 Jul 1824 at Pulaski Co, Kentucky.

     Nancy Ashley was born in 1805 at Kentucky. She was the daughter of SGT John Oliver Ashley I and Mary "Polly" Hardin ? Nancy Ashley married Richard Allison b 1828. Nancy Ashley died in 1850 at Warren Co, Tennessee.

     Richard Allison was born in 1800. He married Nancy Ashley, daughter of SGT John Oliver Ashley I and Mary "Polly" Hardin ?, b 1828. Richard Allison died in 1847.

     Unknown Colville was born a 1803. He married Margeret "Peggy" Ashley, daughter of SGT John Oliver Ashley I and Mary "Polly" Calloway ?, b 1828.

     Francis Ashley was born in 1808 at Kentucky. He was the son of SGT John Oliver Ashley I and Mary "Polly" Hardin ?

     Mariah Ashley was born in 1810 at Pulaski Co, Kentucky. She was the daughter of SGT John Oliver Ashley I and Mary "Polly" Hardin ? Mariah Ashley married William Lynn b 1828. Mariah Ashley died in 1880 at Crittenden Co, Kentucky.

     William Lynn was born a 1803. He married Mariah Ashley, daughter of SGT John Oliver Ashley I and Mary "Polly" Hardin ?, b 1828.

     Tabitha Ashley was born in 1814. She was the daughter of SGT John Oliver Ashley I and Mary "Polly" Hardin ?

     Rachel Ruth Ashley was born a 1787. She was the daughter of SGT John Oliver Ashley I and Mary "Polly" Calloway ? Rachel Ruth Ashley married Alexander Evans on 28 Jul 1804 at Pulaski Co, Kentucky.
