     James Greenlee I was born a 1705. He married Mary Elizabeth McDowell, daughter of Ephraim McDowell and Margaret Irvine, a 1734. James Greenlee I died in 1763.

     Benjamin Borden I was born a 1680.

      Benjamin Borden I was the original grantee of the 100,000 acre tract of land which encompasses Rockbridge Co, Va. His tract began south of the John Lewis tract which included Staunton, Va. In 1737 Benjamin Borden I came to the valley of Virginia to see the land that John Lewis had described to him the year before. In a quick trip back to Williamsburg, Va he sought and received the land grant on the conditions that he resettle 100 families to the grant within two years, giving each fifty acres of land and requiring them to each build a log cabin on their acreage. To find the families Borden went to southeastern Pennsylvania and encouraged extended families and their neighbors to migrate to the new fertile land. The land had drawing power because of the rolling hills and mountains similarity to Scotland and the ability to get water power for mills in the mountains. Borden did not meet the two year deadline, but with a year's extension accomplished the resettlement by the fall of 1740.

When Borden first came to survey his tract he ment Ephraim McDowell and his family who were on their way to the Lewis tract to settle. With more extensive offers of land he enticed the McDowells to his tract.

     James McDowell I was born on 6 Oct 1709 at Ireland. He was the son of Ephraim McDowell and Margaret Irvine.

     COL James McDowell II was born a 1730. He was the son of James McDowell I. COL James McDowell II was buried at Rockbridge Co, Virginia.

     Gov. James McDowell III was born a 1755. He was the son of COL James McDowell II.

     John Moffett was born a 1776. He was the son of COL George Moffett I and Sarah 'Sally' McDowell.

      John Moffett died young.

     Margaret Moffett was born in 1763. She was the daughter of COL George Moffett I and Sarah 'Sally' McDowell. Margaret Moffett married COL Joseph McDowell II in 1782. Margaret Moffett died on 10 Jun 1816.

     COL Joseph McDowell II was born in 1756 at Burke Co, North Carolina. He married Margaret Moffett, daughter of COL George Moffett I and Sarah 'Sally' McDowell, in 1782. COL Joseph McDowell II died in 1801 at Burke Co, North Carolina.

      COL Joseph McDowell was a lawyer and congressman.

     Mary Moffett was born a 1772. She was the daughter of COL George Moffett I and Sarah 'Sally' McDowell. Mary Moffett married Dr Joseph McDowell a 1792. Mary Moffett married COL John Carson a 1795.

     Dr Joseph McDowell was born a 1767. He married Mary Moffett, daughter of COL George Moffett I and Sarah 'Sally' McDowell, a 1792.

     COL John Carson was born a 1768. He married Mary Moffett, daughter of COL George Moffett I and Sarah 'Sally' McDowell, a 1795.

     Magadalene Moffett was born a 1766. She was the daughter of COL George Moffett I and Sarah 'Sally' McDowell. Magadalene Moffett married James Cochran a 1786.

     James Cochran was born a 1762. He married Magadalene Moffett, daughter of COL George Moffett I and Sarah 'Sally' McDowell, a 1786. James Cochran was buried at Augusta Co, Virginia.

     Martha Moffett was born a 1770. She was the daughter of COL George Moffett I and Sarah 'Sally' McDowell. Martha Moffett married CPT John Kirk in 1790.

     CPT John Kirk was born a 1765. He married Martha Moffett, daughter of COL George Moffett I and Sarah 'Sally' McDowell, in 1790.

     Elizabeth Moffett was born a 1768. She was the daughter of COL George Moffett I and Sarah 'Sally' McDowell. Elizabeth Moffett married James Miller a 1788.

     James Miller was born a 1763. He married Elizabeth Moffett, daughter of COL George Moffett I and Sarah 'Sally' McDowell, a 1788. James Miller was buried at Mossy Creek, Augusta Co, Virginia.

     Martha E. Sheltman was born on 11 Jul 1826. She was the daughter of Jacob G. Sheltman and Amanda M. Ruff.

     Isabel Colter was born a 1845. She married Dr David E. Ruff, son of Jacob M. Ruff and Isabella Coalter, a 1865.

     Hannah Ruff was born in 1845. She was the daughter of Jacob M. Ruff and Isabella Coalter.

     Mary Ruff was born in 1847. She was the daughter of Jacob M. Ruff and Isabella Coalter. Mary Ruff married (Unknown) Hogan a 1867.

     (Unknown) Hogan was born a 1842. He married Mary Ruff, daughter of Jacob M. Ruff and Isabella Coalter, a 1867. (Unknown) Hogan died c 1900 at Galveston, Texas.

     Wallace Ruff was born in 1848. He was the son of Jacob M. Ruff and Isabella Coalter.

     Martha or Matilda E. Ruff was born in 1849. She was the daughter of Jacob M. Ruff and Isabella Coalter.
